A dated record of every change to the converters and the published guides, including corrections. Cosmetic edits are not listed; anything that changes a factual claim or a tool's behaviour is.

  1. — Launch

    • Published nine converters: JFIF to JPG, PNG, PDF, JPEG, WebP, BMP and ICO, plus JPG to JFIF and PNG to JFIF.
    • Published six format guides covering what JFIF is, the byte-level format reference, the Windows registry cause, how to open the files on each platform, JFIF versus JPG, and safe renaming.
    • Added the JFIF viewer, which reports header type from file signature rather than extension.
    • Converter engine written with no third-party JavaScript libraries. PDF, BMP, ICO and ZIP writers are first-party code.
    • Verified lossless paths byte-for-byte: JFIF to JPG and JFIF to PDF copy the compressed JPEG stream without decoding.
    • All format claims checked against ITU-T T.871, ITU-T T.81, W3C PNG Third Edition, RFC 9649 and ISO 32000-2.

What gets logged here

  • New or removed converters, and any change to how an existing one behaves
  • Corrections to factual claims, with a note of what was wrong
  • Substantial rewrites or additions to a guide
  • Changes to the privacy policy or editorial policy

Spelling fixes and layout tweaks are not logged. See the editorial policy for how corrections are handled.
